  3. have a concentric structure with a diameter
  4. up to 2 mm/0.08 in. They were formed by
  5. chemical precipitation and accumulation on
  6. ancient sea floors. The surface texture of
  7. oolites is rather like that of fish roe. The
  8. late Jurassic limestones of the British Isles
  9. are mostly oolitic in nature.
